Russian Day 9th March 2018
On Friday 9th March Priors Field celebrated a Russian Day. All children enjoyed a celebration assembly learning about the Russian festival Maslenitsa. They have learnt a few Russian words and tasted some special Russian food, including Borsh and Sushki (soup and bread). They have also learnt that it’s the week of pancakes, games and public celebration marking the end of Winter and welcoming Spring. The culmination of this festival is burning the straw figure (doll). Year 5 have worked really hard making the straw doll and showed it to the whole school in the afternoon.
